What numbers are important for your health?

Every year the 2nd week of June celebrates Men’s Health Week. The aim is to encourage men to understand important health concerns, seek early medical advice and raise awareness on what they can do to keep fit and healthy.

This year, Men’s Health Week falls on 10 to 16 June and is focused on health by numbers.

We know that when it comes to sports men know facts and figures like the back of their hand. How many goals did Liverpool score in the 2019 Champions League final? What round did Ruiz defeat Anthony Joshua? You’ve got all the answers! But when it comes to your health just how much do you really know?

Our DrinkCoach experts have put together a list of 6 eye-opening stats which reveal the impact alcohol has to play on men’s health. They’ve also followed that up with 6 important figures to help you change your relationship with alcohol, for good.

6 stats to get you to act

Did you know that 33.3% of men turn to alcohol to ease depression? (1)

6 stats to help you stay on track

14

Aim to drink no more than 14 units of alcohol per week. Drink any more and the likelihood of harm increases exponentially.

2

Try to have at least 2 alcohol free days per week.

1

For every alcoholic drink you have, have a glass of water or a non-alcoholic drink. It will help slow down your drinking and keep you in control.

4

Swop your higher ABV beer, ciders, ales and lagers for a lower 4% version.

3

Set yourself a goal. Whether it's 1,2 or 3 units make sure you know how much you want to drink before you start a drinking session.
